T.O.V.A Testing

The Test of Variables of Attention, or T.O.V.A measures an individual’s ability to remain focused during a repetitive, boring task, and their ability to control their impulses during a more stimulating task. From this assessment, a series of variables are measured and eventually analyzed to determine whether or not a person has challenges with paying attention and controlling impulses.  The T.O.V.A test is a computerized assessment that is offered in two formats, auditory and visual, and typically lasts for 21.6 minutes for children ages 6 years and older, and shorter tests are available for younger-aged children. Altogether, the diagnostic appointment takes roughly 45 minutes. Our providers use a comprehensive approach to diagnosing ADHD and do not rely solely upon the results of the test. The T.O.V.A testing score is used in conjunction with a diagnostic assessment by the provider.  Most insurance plans will cover the testing, but co-pays/deductible amounts will still be due on the day of the appointment.
